No, you won't find the Grand Pubahs behind the counter of a Detroit fast-food joint, despite what titles like Big Onion or Sandwiches might suggest. As soon as you see them on stage you'll understand what they're really all about. Solidly in the tradition of booty/bass MCs, Paris the Black Fu has a knack for twisting up an almost comically lascivious vocabulary with his vocoder. Originating in 1998 with a collaboration between Matt Goudy, Jr. - aka Paris the Black Fu or the Schizophrenic Brainchild of Funkno - and Andy Toth, alias Dr. Toefinger, the Detroit Grand Pubahs create their own path, taking inspiration from personalities like Blow Fly, science fiction comedies, funk and a healthy measure of Detroit Techno. Out of this strange brew foams a music reminiscent of ghettotech and booty bass, touched up with funky keys and accents of electroclash/trash.
