Gyges vs VrombCA
Vromb’s reputation as a unique artist doesn’t need to be proven among specialists of electro minimalist rhythms. He has his own personal style, which allies pulsing electronic rhythms with intense atmospheres created by analog synthesizers. This project by Hugo Girard, surely one of the most original on the electronic music scene in North America, finds itself confronted by the efficient system that is Gyges. Under this pseudonym lurks another active member on the electronic Montreal scene, Paul Keeley—known for his torrid compositions and shows consisting of frenzied, impure techno. Gyges is in the process of becoming an important project for the composer as appreciation for his more abstract, minimal and ambient propositions is gaining momentum. This artistic meeting pits two explorers of organic, atypical and strongly cognitive tonalities against one another. It’s a rare occasion to witness the potential of these Montrealers in a setting where they will assuredly be at the top of their game.
