Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accountant position works closely with the Director of Operations and the Executive Director to ensure sound administrative and financial management of the organization:

  • Bookkeeping, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, preparation of bank reconciliations;
  • Accounting;
  • Participation in the preparation of financial statements;
  • Accounting during the festival period (bar, ticketing and boutique revenues, petty cash preparations, cash orders);
  • Payment of invoices;
  • Tax returns;
  • Management and declaration of withholding taxes for foreign workers (taxes for non-resident artists);
  • Employee payroll management;
  • Control of accounts payable and receivable;
  • Billing;
  • Analyze employee expense reports and corporate credit card accounts;
  • Grant payment tracking;
  • Update administrative tracking tools;
  • Tracking of various online accounts: Stripe, Paypal, Square ;
  • Follow-up on donations as a charitable organization;
  • Produce the different government reports, validation and payment;
  • Banking: Follow up on current transactions. Validate and follow up on term deposits. Carry out bank reconciliations;
  • Produce the various government statements (T4, T4A and T4A-NR) and annual reports;
  • GST/QST reports


  • University degree in finance or accounting;
  • 3 years experience in a similar position;
  • Mastery of Simply Accounting (SAGE) software;
  • Excellent knowledge of computer tools (MS Office suite), particularly Excel;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the cultural and NPO environment;
  • Knowledge of grants in the cultural sector
  • Bilingual;
  • Experience in the festival sector is an asset

  • Contract position ;
  • Start date: December 2020 ;
  • Schedule: average of 15 hours per month (half day per week) during the quiet period and up to 90 hours/month during the festival/fiscal year end period. (Approximately 300-350 hours/year);
  • Flexible schedule with increased availability during festival periods ;
  • Hourly rate: to be discussed depending on experience ;
