Nick Schofield CA/QC — Glass Gallery
For the debut live performance of Glass Gallery, Montréal-based musician, producer, and radio host, Nick Schofield summons the sonic analog of the light and space of the National Gallery of Canada using an illuminated Prophet-600. With signature tones of this polyphonic analog synthesizer, Schofield blends ambient, new age and environmental music, encouraging calm reflection and emotional release.
Ida Toninato & Pierre-Luc Lecours FR/QC+CA/QC
Product of a summer residency at Québec’s artist-run Avatar centre, this first collaboration between Ida Toninato and Pierre-Luc Lecours explores the various dynamics underlying matter, energy and frequencies. To that end, the duo will combine baritone saxophone, electric guitar and modular synthesizer, filtered through digital tools, into a unique audio stream; the resulting audio performance is then staged across two screens as a means to visually represent the music’s velocities and energetic content.
