Discover six up-and-coming creators and their exciting new XR projects that are under development and currently incubated within the Montréal/Miami New Narratives Lab.

From Montréal, Maude Thibodeau will transport us to a world of tormented bodies that would give anything to change shapes, Shonee Arroyo-Kreimes will reconcile our urban surrounding with a digital version of nature, and Mélanie O’Bomsawin will shine a spotlight on the Indigenous women who imagined us even though we forgot about them.

From Miami, Fereshteh Toosi will explore the cultural history of oil and its connection to South Florida, Monica Lopez De Victoria will revisit the Miami Art Deco district transformed by sea-level rise into an underwater sci-fi world, and Olivia Klawonn will mediate how women on the Autism spectrum experience reality.

As the creators pitch their projects during this session, they will be seeking out support from producers and funders, as well as looking for presentation opportunities, expert advice, potential collaborators, and fellow artists’ friendly critiques or words of encouragement.

The Montréal/Miami New Narratives Lab is organized by FilmGate Miami, MUTEK, the National Film Board of Canada and O Cinema, in collaboration with the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC), with the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the City of Montréal, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the CreARTE Jorge M. Perez Family Foundation.

Activity in English and French languages.
