Sarah Friend is an artist and software developer who engages with technology on a fundamental level, imagining, for example, software itself as a site-specific media, systems as speculative fictions, and worldbuilding as praxis. She will participate in multiple sessions at this year’s Forum, offering an in-depth lecture-workshop on blockchain and NFTs, and exploring the extractivist concepts lurking in the game Minecraft — a digital space and community, which she also investigates as part of the curatorial team behind Ender Gallery.

This Q&A will focus on the Friend’s own artistic practice, in conversation with British journalist Charlie Robin Jones. Charlie the head of external relations for the cultural strategy group Flamingo, editor-at-large of materialist journal Real Review and UK correspondent of Flash Art, where he writes a quarterly column on fashion. Sarah and Charlie first met at Trust, a platform for “utopian conspiracy”, and with this origin in mind, they’ll reconvene at Trust’s physical Berlin home to discuss where the rabbithole leads. Audiences are also encouraged to throw in their own questions via the chat!

Activity in English Language.
