An Immersive Theater
August 25 & 26, from 7 to 10 pm | Théâtre Maisonneuve in Place des Arts
Large-scale, sensory audiovisual works that merge image, sound and technology are at the heart of the two A/Visions programs. Artificial intelligence, neuroscience, modular synthesizers and analog visual landscapes meet lyrical art and electronic vibrations for an organic and transformative experience.
Focus on Alessandro Cortini
Best known as a member of Nine Inch Nails, Alessandro Cortini’s solo live performances propel the audience into a whirlwind of intricately-rendered emotional dynamics, expertly pushing the limits of contemporary electronic music and extracting unabashedly human emotions out of synthesized noises. Born out of walls of analog equipment, Cortini’s sonic patchwork is as hopeful as it is menacing.

inex.materia by DATUM CUT contains brief moments of fast music, intense sounds, intense visuals and stroboscopic effects.
Grey Line by SPIME.IM contains stroboscopic effects and loud music.
Focus on Hatis Noit
Hatis Noit presents the Canadian live debut performance of her much applauded album Aura. The name “Hatis Noit” itself is taken from Japanese folklore, meaning the stem of the lotus flower. The lotus represents the living world, while its root represents the spirit world, therefore Hatis Noit is what connects the two. For the artist, music represents the same netherworld with its ability to move and transport us to the other side; the past, a memory, our subconscious. The haunting tones of Aura invites the audience into these stirring, nostalgic soundscapes.
Six days and nights of discoveries and immersive audio-visual experiences
The festivalgoers will have the opportunity to enjoy nearly 80 live performances presented at five iconic venues in the Quartier des spectacles: Les 7 doigts de la main, MTelus, Société des arts technologiques [SAT], Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts, and the Tranquille Esplanade, which once again hosts the free outdoor stage.
