Free

First held in 2000, Montréal en lumière offers Montrealers and visitors hundreds of activities to discover through its gastronomic programming, its free outdoor site, its performances, and the Nuit blanche in Montreal.

Located in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles for 25 years, this site becomes the meeting point to experience an exceptional snowy atmosphere at a frantic pace. Montréal en Lumière returns to light up downtown, and this year, we are proud to present two works by Montreal-based artists.

Emma Forgues - Resonance

Resonance explores the interaction between memory, space, and digital transformation. Incorporating 3D scans of various locations across Quebec, the work unfolds a dreamlike landscape where the boundary between reality and imagination fades. Through surreal environments—abandoned urban structures, snowy remnants, and ethereal floating entities—it invites a poetic reflection on ruin, preservation, and the passage of time. Resonance was developed during a residency with the audiovisual collective mesocosm.

Isotone - Projexions

Conceived by Mélissa Nadeau, the PROJEXION project is initiated in schools around the world to give children and adolescents the space to be creative by imagining through drawing the place of Nature in the cities of the future. The animation, based on the imagination of these hopeful drawings, depicts a societal division between the desire for growth—building ever-denser, taller modern cities—and the climate consequences they may generate. Projexions thus visualizes a more certain future where neither the city nor Nature takes precedence, offering a vision of a common future, a completely harmonious ecosystem, for the benefit of all.
