Alan HarmanCA/QC
Alan Harman is a Canadian coldwave artist known for his entirely analog live recording process and dedication to a bleak, dark sound. He grew up in a small town known solely for having high levels of radiation in its soil. All through his youth, he longed for meaning. Unable to find it in religion, he discovered it in synthesizers and coldwave music.
Inspired by the more philosophical side of Cold-War science-fiction books, Alan’s writing often evokes feelings of alienation in an unrecognizable environment. These stories are told through relics of the same era; old analog synthesizers and drum machines recorded to tape. Using minimal instrumentation, Alan is able to compose tales of lost romances, war, and solitude, resulting in raw and honest narratives, free from over-production.
In 2025 he released an LP and a 7” on the legendary German label Kernkrach Records, as well as an EP on Italian label Stanze Fredde, and participated in the MUTEK Incubator. He also completed his first European tour—ten shows in four countries—and will be returning in 2027.

Live | World premiere
Alan Harman returns synth-pop to its origins: no backing tracks, no computers, just analogue synthesizers, drum machines and his voice. Inspired by early new wave demos, he draws on feelings of isolation, alienation, and withdrawal, crafting dark, romantic dance music for smoke-filled rooms.
