Murcof & Simon GeilfusMX+BE
Murcof, the moniker of Mexican electronic musician and composer Fernando Corona, is renowned for his sparse and minimalist electronic music. Born in 1970 in Tijuana, Mexico, and now based in Barcelona, Spain, Murcof's compositions are characterized by abstract, glitchy, and intricate electronic percussion. Drawing inspiration from modern classical music, musique concrète, holy minimalism, and baroque, his sound also integrates elements of ambient, drone, and Berlin school synthesizer music. Murcof has released numerous albums and EPs on labels such as The Leaf Label, Infine, Aagoo, and Glacial Movements. His collaborative projects span various disciplines, including notable works with jazz trumpet player Erik Truffaz and classical pianist Vanessa Wagner, reflecting his versatile and exploratory musical approach.
Simon Geilfus, born in 1985 in Brussels where he currently resides, is an Interaction Designer and Software Engineer whose work fuses art and code. His journey into creative coding began with the rise of Processing and the Flash Hackers Community, driving his passion for computational design and generative graphics. Geilfus is dedicated to developing innovative tools and approaches for graphic and motion design, enjoying both the creation of visual abstractions and the software behind them. A former lecturer at Brussels' Superior National School of Visual Arts, La Cambre, and the Graphic Research School of Brussels, ERG, he continues to teach creative coding at cultural events and festivals across Europe. Since 2009, Simon Geilfus has been a key member of the Antivj visual label.
