Noah PredCA/DE
Berlin-based Canadian artist Noah Pred explores our relationship with technology through interactive frameworks. He shapes abstract data flow though generative multimedia, creating visual landscapes that interact with entrancing sounds. Pred is a record producer, sound designer, technologist and educator. He was a notable figure in Canada's underground music scene in the early 2000's, having been a resident DJ at both Stereobar in Montréal and Fukhouse in Toronto. His acclaimed imprint Thoughtless showcases his use of hardware and software in his hypnotic techno tracks. He relocated in Berlin in 2011 to expand his creative horizons while collaborating with many talented artists. He recently founded Timeshare, a label that concentrates on collaborations while aiming to assist charitable organizations. He was Canada’s first Ableton Certified Trainer, and has taught many techniques for studio practices and on-stage tips over the past decade. Today, he has turned his focus towards generative multimedia artworks and sound installations.
Noah Pred CA/DE — Panarchae
Panarchae is a generative audiovisual piece that shifts through time. The term “panarchy” is used to describe evolving hierarchical systems with multiple interrelated elements. Comprised of four reactive audio-visual agents, Panarchae’s synaesthetic entities (panarchaea) represent the Platonic tripartite – popularized by Freud as id, ego, and superego – plus a fourth schism, emergent in our digital age: the fractured, fragmented online self. Adhering to semi-deterministic contours yet evolving organically within them, each moment is generated anew while exploring the distortion of ego perpetuated by digital mediation.
Participants are encouraged to interact during the piece by simply tweeting the title - Panarchae - accompanied by any other text. With a delay of up to 60 seconds, new tweets including the term Panarchae will induce a new audio-visual reaction from the online component within the piece, while displaying the username of the interacting Twitter account. While tweet content is not displayed, it can produce different outcomes. Participants may tweet as many times as they wish, but repeated tweets with identical text content will be ignored.
Note: the work will be interactive through Twitter during the livestreams only (24.08 & 31.08.2021).
