Paul Vivien is a French artist based between Montréal and Rennes. Fascinated by new technologies, he explores both their possibilities as a tool and their impact on our society. Through hacking, diversion and upcycling, he creates the poetic meeting between the themes that inspire him: animal behavior, natural phenomena, science-fiction, low-tech design and fairground arts.

His projects have the will to leave the screen where they were conceived, materializing in real space as virtual imaginations in sound, in light and in video. His works have been presented internationally by several institutions including the Château de Versailles, Musée du bas saint laurent, Eastern Bloc, SAW centre, the Mapping festival (Geneva), the Bouglione circus, the Palais de Tokyo. He’s also one of the founding members of OYÉ art label.

Live A/V

Through L’Harmonie De Notre Absence, Paul Vivien imagines terrestrial landscapes after the end of human activity. Drawing on scientific and climatological data and hacked technology, he takes audiences on a video tour of these possible futures through rotating dioramas, offering a double reading between the screen and the stage.

TW: This performance uses strobe lights, smoke, and intense sound.
