Sara Persico & Mika Oki^IT+BE

Sara Persico is an Italian sound artist, composer and performer whose work explores the intersection of voice, analog electronics and field recordings. A trained vocalist, Persico holds a Bachelor of Arts in Voice and Performance from the Conservatory of Napoli and a Master's Degree from the Conservatory of Bologna. Persico's critically acclaimed solo debut album, Boundary, was released in March 2023 on Karlrecords, followed by her sophomore work, Sphaîra (2025), a haunting ambient opus crafted after an awe-inducing visit to the Experimental Theatre in Tripoli.

Inspired by the dome’s unique sonic characteristics, Persico returned to the site with field recording equipment to extract the hushed whispers, metallic scrapes, and uncanny voicings found within, shaping them into the samples, loops and percussive elements heard on Sphaîra.

Mika Oki is a Brussels-based polymath of the arts, seamlessly blending her background in sculpture and electro-acoustic music to craft immersive experiences that defy conventional boundaries. Her journey as a visual artist, DJ, and producer has been marked by an exploration of intangible spaces and emotional landscapes, manifested through A/V installations, music compositions, and captivating mixes in which she employs abstract sound textures and kinetic visuals to orchestrate mind-bending experiences. Her work transcends mere performance, offering audiences immersive journeys through audiovisual landscapes that blur the lines between reality and abstraction.

Her performances have graced prestigious European festivals like TodaysArt, SONICA, CYNETART, and the acclaimed Nyege Nyege festival in Uganda, showcasing her global footprint in the electronic music scene.

In the audio-visual interpretation of Sphaîra, Sara Persico and Mika Oki invite audiences into an ambient universe where the boundaries between external stimuli and internal perception blur. Inspired by the vaporous acoustic qualities of the Experimental Theatre dome in Tripoli, the performance folds fractal imagery, breathy drones, and abstract stroboscopic effects into a hazy, mesmerizing, and profoundly introspective dance.
