Super Galaxy Meow Meow^{TW+CA/UK+NZ/UK}

Tom Hulland is a UK-based visual and laser artist known for high-impact show design across the club and festival scene. He has designed visuals and laser shows for Idris Elba, Pete Tong, Alison Wonderland, and more. In 2025 he designed the laser show element for Dubai's New Year’s eve spectacular on the Burj Khalifa.

Wawa is a London-based Taiwanese Canadian electronic music artist operating at the edge of club intensity and immersive listening. Her EP Foul Taste was nominated for Best Dance Album at the Canadian Juno Awards in 2025. She also produces spacious, ambient compositions, including an opening performance for Taiwanese electronic pioneer Lim Giong at Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab in 2025. Her work is shaped by a curious, playful approach to sound by testing how far texture and space can stretch across different contexts.

For the Reciprocity project, Tom builds and performs the TouchDesigner system live by generating the visuals, driving the laser patterns, and laser tracing onto the TouchDesigner-generated imagery. Wawa performs the sound in Ableton Live by shaping and processing the laser-generated audio, adding rhythmic elements (kick, clap, hats), and repeatedly resampling the source material through Granulator III to create evolving textures. Her audio output feeds back to modulate the TouchDesigner/laser system, completing the reciprocal loop.

What sound would a laser make if it could speak? In Reciprocity, Super Galaxy Meow Meow flip the traditional audio-drives-visuals script, creating an interface between laser-generated sound and image. Light becomes an instrument for listening; sound influences light in response, and audience and artist are immersed in an unrepeatable, real-time dialogue where neither medium strictly illustrates the other.
