Vivian Li is a Chinese-Canadian, Montréal-based sound artist, composer and musician. Her work explores the emotional, perceptual and healing potential of sound. Working primarily with synthesizers, field recordings, and electroacoustic techniques, she creates music that is intimate, gentle and emotionally resonant. Her compositions evolve slowly through repetition, duration, and subtle transformation. Drones, looping structures and gradual harmonic shifts create environments where meaning emerges over time through attentive listening. Through field recordings and personal archives, she touches on the themes of memory, presence, and the human experience, amplifying the quiet beauty of everyday sonic realities.

She has performed and presented work at Karachi Biennale (Pakistan), Akousma (Montréal), MUTEK (Montréal), Société des Arts Technologiques (Montréal), Pique (Ottawa, ON), and more. She is one half of synth/harp duo Echönymphia (with Coralie Gauthier) and part of Audio Placebo Plaza (with Julia E. Dyck and Erin Gee). She also hosts a monthly radio show ‘Lo Signal’ on local community radio station CKUT 90.3, where she experiments with ambient scraps, field recordings, and diary excerpts.

Vivian Li - Sonic Memories
Live | Canadian premiere

Vivian Li’s live set transforms the sounds of archival recordings and pulses of hardware synthesizers into shimmering ribbons of ASMR-like textures and heart-reaching melodies. Layered drones and eerie harmonies come together in real time in her gentle ambient atmosphere shaped by space and time.
