The Monument-National is a historic Canadian theater with a rich cultural history. MUTEK Forum will spread over 4 floors this year.
The rooms used will be Café/Lounge (Ground floor), Hydro-Québec Studio (-1), Ludger-Duvernay room (1st and 2nd floor) and the Rehearsal room (4th floor), all located on 4 different floors. Cocktails will be held at the Café/Lounge on the ground floor.
Entry is through the main entrance of The Monument-National (1182 Saint-Laurent).
No outside alcohol is permitted at any time.
The MUTEK Forum programming at Monument-National is open to all, but please note that it may not be specifically geared towards young audiences.
These events will not be streamed and will only be available in person.
Space access and navigation
Wheelchair accessibility
The main entrance of The Monument-National is at ground level and has 2 steps and an access ramp. The sidewalk has a drop-off accessible to people who require a drop-off access about 10 meters to the left of the main entrance.
Bathrooms
Café/Lounge - Ground Floor
Accessible and gender-neutral toilets are available to the left of the stairs in the entrance.
Ludger-Duvernay room - accessible entrance on 2nd floor
Accessible and gender-neutral toilets are available in the Ludger-Duvernay hallway, at the far end of the corridor on the left. When you exit the elevator, the entrance hallway is on your right.
Rehearsal room - 4th Floor
There are no accessible toilets on this floor. Gender-neutral toilets are available at the back of the hall, through the second door on the right.entrance.
Stairs and Elevators
- An elevator is located at the end of the entrance hallway, to the left of the stairs, to access floors -1, ground floor, 1 and 2.
- The freight elevator is located on level -1 to access floor 4. It is available by indicating to the staff at the entrance to the building that you wish to access the 4th floor by elevator.
All levels are accessible via the central staircase. There are 90 steps from the ground floor to the 4th floor (Rehearsal Room).
Access to rooms
Café/Lounge - Ground Floor : The café is accessible through the first door on the left of the main entrance.
Studio Hydro-Québec - -1 floor : The Studio is accessible from the café via a staircase divided into 3 sections of 7, 9 and 6 steps. To reach the staircase, take the wooden door opposite the bar on the right, then the metal door.
Ludger-Duvernay - 1st and 2nd floor :
- Balustrade (1st) : There are 19 then 18 steps from the ground floor to the 1st floor, up to the balustrade of the Ludger-Duvernay room.
- Access by elevator / Mezzanine (2nd) : The Ludger-Duvernay room can be reached from the elevator by going to the 2nd floor, or by climbing 19, then 18, then 20 steps from the first floor to the 2nd floor. When you exit the elevator, turn left immediately, and the room will be on your right behind the large wooden doors.
Rehearsal Room - 4th floor :
- Elevator access: Tell the reception team in the ground-floor entrance that you wish to take the elevator. The reception team will call an attendant to accompany you to a freight elevator serving the 4th floor. Ask reception staff to help you take the freight elevator from level -1 (Studio Hydro Québec). The freight elevator is located at the end of the corridor on the left, via the first door at the back of the room. Take the freight elevator for 1 minute to the 4th floor. Turn left and cross the room (the staff will guide you).
- Staircase access : From the entrance, take the central staircase on your right then climb the four floors with 90 steps.
All levels are separated by the same central staircase with 112 steps total.
Water Access
Please bring a reusable water bottle. Ecocups will be available at water points.
Hydro Québec Studio - -1 : There is no accessible water fountain here.
Café/Lounge - Ground floor : A water fountain is available in the corridor opposite the entrance, near the toilets.
Ludger-Duvernay - 1st and 2nd floor : There is no accessible water fountain here. A water fountain is available at the elevator exit.
Rehearsal room - 4th floor : There is no fountain available here. A water fountain is available next to the hall entrance.
Food Availability
Forum : Meals will not be served. Passes and Passport holders will have access to certain discounts at our partner restaurants, see the tourism page here. Snacks will be available on cocktail evenings (August 22 and 23).

The Ludger Duvernay hall (1st and 2nd floors) is equipped with a tuning system that allows you to pick up the show's signal by tuning a digital walkman to frequency 103.1 MHZ FM. Those wishing to use this service should bring their own digital player.Two devices are available in the hall. To borrow one, please ask the staff on site. Staff will be present at room entrances to scan wristbands.
Simultaneous translation and transcription
All activities taking place in the Salle Ludger-Duvernay will be simultaneously transcribed and translated into French or English using an artificial intelligence application.Those wishing to use this accessibility feature will find QR codes at the Forum which they can scan to connect to the live transcription. They can also click on the "Transcriptions" button on the MUTEK Forum home page. This is a beta service, so we cannot guarantee perfect accuracy.
During the event, no interpretation for deaf people will be offered.

The surrounding bike lanes are located along Saint Urbain Street (protected lane) and Maisonneuve Boulevard (shared lane). There is no bike lane on the street where the venue is located.
