26th Edition of MUTEK Festival: Six nights of Sonic and Visual Discoveries

The international Festival of electronic music and digital creativity, MUTEK, unveils today the complete lineup of its 26th edition, which will take place from Tuesday, August 19 to Sunday, August 24, 2025, in the heart of Montréal.

For six days, artists and audiences from here and abroad will gather in the Quartier des Spectacles for a unique experience blending sound, visuals, and innovation. Staying true to its inclusive spirit, esplanade Tranquille will once again become the festival’s beating heart with free outdoor performances every evening from 5 p.m. On-site programming will spotlight major names and emerging talents in the global electronic scene with immersive scenographies in iconic venues: the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT], Place des Arts’ Théâtre Maisonneuve, and MTELUS.


Among the highlights and new feats of this edition: the North American premiere of Lattice 3D/AV, a spectacular new work by the ingenious English producer Max Cooper, and a captivating triple-bill open-air performance specially curated by MUTEK for the Théâtre de Verdure.

With an ever-rich, eclectic, and multifaceted artistic selection, MUTEK promises a vibrant new edition, merging sensory exploration with artistic discovery. A not-to-be-missed summer rendezvous to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of digital cultures..


Panorama of current sonic and visual artistic expressions

Over 120 artists from 26 countries will share their original and passionate approaches, most of them premiering in Montréal, across 17 programs. Here is an overview of the four series and two special events, each designed to reveal different facets of electronic music and digital arts.


Nocturne Series

Society for Arts and Technology | August 20 to 24, 2025, starting at 10:30 p.m. | $40/$45 (+taxes and fees)


The backbone of the Festival, the Nocturne series takes over both the SAT Space and the Satosphere dome, bringing together future revelations and essential pioneers. On the program: groundbreaking works that reinvent contemporary music, enhanced by a state-of-the-art visual environment.

Notably, two projects unfold from SAT’s residency programs: Sense by the duo ReVerie and RAPID EYE MOVEMENT by the British artists YeffYeff and Bertie Sampson.


Special Event

Place des Arts’ Théâtre Maisonneuve | August 21, 2025, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. | $45 (+taxes and fees)

Following a memorable performance in 2022, British composer and multidisciplinary artist Max Cooper returns to Montréal to present the North American premiere of his latest work. Conceived as an intersection of science, art, and technology, Lattice 3D/AV creates a complex and hypnotic visual universe where algorithmic modelling meets emotional sound.

A/Visions Series

Sensory audiovisual works that blend image, sound, and innovation are at the heart of the two A/Visions programs. Through technology, machinery, or Artificial Intelligence, the artists trace the intangible and tap into awe.

Métropolis Series

This series focuses on the more rhythmic and captivating sides of electronic music, wrapped in a dynamic scenography by BelleyFERRIS. The two nights offer contrasting programs aimed at cultivating celebration and togetherness.

Expérience Series

Every day from 5 p.m., the free outdoor stage invites Montrealers and tourists alike to a celebration of music, eclecticism, and cross-genre encounters at the esplanade Tranquille. Several surprises will be revealed over the summer, augmenting this event in both time and space.

Among the local talents, a highlight is the premiere of Florence-Delphine Roux’s latest project, developed during her Avatar-MUTEK creation and dissemination residency.


Théâtre de Verdure

August 20, 2025, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. | Free

For the first time in its history, MUTEK will take place in the bucolic setting of the Théâtre de Verdure in the center of Parc La Fontaine. The amphitheatre will host three performances, classical virtuosity meeting electronic modernity, to the delight of all.
