After nearly 10 years of quiet hiatus, Dutch musician and producer Dave Huismans has returned to the scene, shedding his past monikers to explore new ground.
A key contributor to the UK’s post-dubstep club movement, Huismans integrates elements of deep house, ambient, techno, and more into his ever-evolving sound. His many aliases, notably 2562 and A Made Up Sound, saw him mold the genres into new and imaginative iterations.
Performing today under the aliases In Transit and ex_libris, Huismans is experimenting with something more organic. Liquid and atmospheric, his sprawling arrangements meander through syncopated rhythms and unexpected turns, slowly encroaching into uninhabited territory. Traces of past identities are still heard throughout his productions—the palimpsest of a decades-spanning career charting the possibilities of club music.
