Guillaume Côté is a sound and multidisciplinary artist based in Quebec City. His practice fluctuates between figuration and abstraction, with a marked interest in the contrasts between synthetic sounds and field recordings. He is a co-founder of the collectives Trames, Falaises, and Aubes. Since 2022, he has been developing a cycle of digital works related to his hypersensitivity to light (of Light). Spanning several mediums, this body of work engages with sound art, robotics, and audiovisual installation, aiming to sublimate the senses and appropriate synesthesia. Resolutely minimalist, this corpus paves the way for a practice where the concept of abstraction is pushed to its extreme.
His work has been presented in several festivals and centers internationally, including MUTEK (Montréal, Tokyo), Elektra, Stereolux, Intonal, LEV, Gnration, and PRECTXE. He regularly participates in co-creation projects, collaborating with organizations or local communities in an approach that emphasizes access and knowledge sharing.
Guillaume Côté — Discrete Pulse of Light
Live A/V | Canadian Premiere
Guillaume Côté transforms a hypersensitivity to light into a poetic audiovisual device. In Discrete Pulse of Light, synchronized sound triggers a luminous choreography of lenses and reflective surfaces. This deeply personal performance blurs the line between perception and sensation, evoking starry visions behind closed eyes.
