Hermanos Riffo Gómez^{CL/CA +CL/DE}

Cristo Riffo is a Chilean artist whose work explores perception and theory behind the concepts of memory, light, politics, and biology. Through live performances and kinetic installations, he hacks and reconfigures technological devices using microbiology, electronics, robotics, and coding.

His work has been featured in group exhibitions both in Chile and internationally. In 2023, his piece Sistema Cinco: Non Human Determinations was featured in the Theme Exhibition, Who Owns the Truth? at Ars Electronica. Alongside Latin-Québécois artist Diego B.C., he co-founded the A/V duo Manos de Agua, with support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) in 2023 and 2025. He currently teaches at Louisiana State University.

Francisco Riffo is a musician and multimedia artist from the southern Chilean city of Puerto Montt. His practice spans music, sound installation, generative visuals, and collaborations with other artists. In his musical work, he focuses on computer music, blending traditional practices and genres such as dance music with experimental approaches, chaotic programming, and live improvisation.

His sound installations explore questions of sound and acoustics, examining how multichannel, digital compositions can mechanically interact with and transform space. Through movement and unusual speaker configurations, his works investigate how sound shapes spatial perception and psychoacoustic experience. His latest release, Hyperme, was published by Modern Obscure Music, a label that has featured artists such as Laurie Spiegel and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

In In the End, It’s All the Same Thing, Hermanos Riffo Gómez journey into deep time through the twisted roots of genetic ancestry, ancient microorganisms, and lifecycles. Hacked and modified 3D microscopy, long-duration time-lapse footage, and live samples manipulated in real time navigate branches of trees, empty houses, interior rooms, and the site where intimate personal recollection intertwines with nature and cosmic space.
