Cassy, Slikback, machìna, upsammy & Valentina Magaletti, Martyn Bootyspoon: A glimpse of what's to come for MUTEK 2025

In just a few months, MUTEK Montréal returns for its 26th edition, running from August 19 to 25, 2025. Discover five artists and performances from the initial wave of our lineup below.

DJ and producer Cassy takes the stage for the first time at the festival, bringing a renewed creative direction shaped by over two decades immersed in global club culture. Her DJ sets combine raw grooves, playful experimentation, and personal vocals into a sound that remains unfiltered and entirely her own.

Slikback, the producer from Nairobi, also makes his MUTEK debut with a high-intensity live set that blurs the lines between noise, bass, trap, dubstep, and experimental electronics. Unbound by genre, his performances symbolize a forceful exploration of rhythm and sonic identity.

Joining us again is machìna with her ongoing Action series consisting of a live techno set shaped by modular improvisation, minimalist drum machines and her vocals. Her music echoes not only her playfulness but also her jazz influences and K-pop background inviting the audience to embrace dancing.

Dutch electronic producer upsammy joins forces with experimental percussionist Valentina Magaletti to offer a first glimpse of their forthcoming album during their live performance. Together, they sculpt a dynamic soundscape where electronics and percussion intertwine, constantly shifting between structure and improvisation.

Martyn “M.” Bootyspoon returns with a new live set, moving through house, techno, juke, and footwork with contagious energy. For this year’s performance, he reimagines the dancefloor as a space for freedom and sonic innovation. His laptop-free set relies solely on grooveboxes, synthesizers, and his own voice.
