Swiss-Guatemalan artist Baby Volcano, the alias of Lorena Stadelmann, channels her background in contemporary dance and performance into a musical world that’s as theatrical as it is emotionally raw. Since the release of her striking debut EP Síndrome Premenstrual, she has made a name for herself with genre-defiant live shows that fuse visceral energy, political edge, and poetic vulnerability.
Raised between cultures and trained in Buenos Aires, Baby Volcano’s sound reflects a hybrid identity—blending Latin American rhythms with reggaeton, chanson, hybrid-pop, rap, and hip-hop. Her bilingual lyrics, delivered in Spanish and French, are bold and unapologetically personal: she sings and raps about resilience, rage, and joy, often confronting themes of patriarchy, self-worth, and survival with theatrical flair.
Her latest EP, SUPERVIVENXIA, is a manifesto of sorts, marrying the words “supervivencia” (super-aliveness) and “sobrevivencia” (survival) into a singular sonic state of being. The music pulses with urgency and sensuality, offering moments of catharsis and celebration alike.
Whether commanding stages at Roskilde, Dour, Eurockéennes, or the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Baby Volcano’s live performances are immersive, genre-blurring rituals that collapse the distance between performer and audience. She doesn’t just perform, she erupts.
