Tio'tia:ke / Mooniyang / Montréal, Tuesday, March 11, 2025 – International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music MUTEK embarks on a new cycle with its 26th edition, taking place in Montréal from Tuesday, August 19 to Sunday, August 24, 2025. More motivated than ever to position Montréal as an epicenter of digital creation, bringing together and accompanying artistic communities from here and abroad, MUTEK invites music aficionados, art and culture enthusiasts, residents and tourists to a new sensory expedition of six days and nights of inspiring discoveries in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles.
Whether at esplanade Tranquille for free outdoor programming accessible to all, at Society for Arts and Technology for avant-garde proposals, at Place des arts' Théâtre Maisonneuve for masterful works, or at MTELUS for two festive evenings, creativity will be celebrated through nearly 80 live performances.
Today sees the unveiling of the first names in a 26th edition reflecting the diversity and richness of sound and visual explorations while providing access to inspired local and international talent.

A special event exclusively on sale
After a memorable performance in 2022, Max Cooper returns to Montréal. His brand-new immersive Lattice 3D/AV experience transforms space into light sculptures and tells the story of his album On Being, released on February 28, while reinterpreting elements of his expansive repertoire. This unique evening takes place on Thursday, August 21, at 7pm at Théâtre Maisonneuve, and individual tickets are already available.

Revelations and references in electronic music
MUTEK has always encouraged creators to develop their practice, and we're delighted to welcome the first live performances of Colombian artist Bitter Babe and producers Kyle Hall and Ma Sha from the United States. Joining them, Detroit techno veteran Kevin Saunderson returns after more than 25 years with a new album under the alias e-Dancer, written and recorded with his son Dantiez. The Fear Radio, duo composed of James Ruskin and Mark Broom, will skillfully combine hip-hop, IDM, and techno, while Austrian house icon Cassy will close MUTEK’s illustrious all-nighter on Saturday, August 23, until morning dawns on MTELUS.

An eagerly awaited reunion
Among performances booked to bring joy are artists Nicola Cruz from Ecuador, machìna from Japan, and British producer James Holden, who will collaborate with Polish multi-instrumentalist Waclaw Zimpel. The return of Aurora Halal is also worth anticipating, a sure value for techno fans.

A worldwide panorama of the most captivating proposals
After several dates at Europe's most renowned festivals, Abul Mogard and Grand River finally bring their In uno spazio immenso project to North America. Loidis, also known as Huerco S., will do us the honor of playing one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2024.

MUTEK is delighted to welcome, for the first time, Italian drummer and percussionist Valentina Magaletti, a key figure on the experimental scene. She will perform solo and with the group Holy Tongue, along with Al Wootton and Susumu Mukai (aka Zongamin), while also joining the program as part of a duo with Dutch artist upsammy. For more adventurous audiences in search of innovative outbreaks, performances by New York-based Moroccan composer Bergsonist and prolific Kenyan visionary Slikback will surpass expectations.

Local and national programming, as inspired as ever
Several internationally acclaimed Québec and Canadian talents will also make their mark, unveiling live performances never seen in Montréal, including Gayance, now based in Portugal, Martyn Bootyspoon, and Yu Su. Mok-T & Bar Rubinstein, members of the Isotone collective, will present the world premiere of their new audio-visual work, while Florence-Delphine Roux, fresh from the Avatar-MUTEK creation and dissemination residency, premieres the Chronique d'Éther project, a cross between sound sculpture and radio art. Finally, i+eo will adapt their 5760 x 1080 installation exclusively for MUTEK as a performative experience.

MUTEK invites audiences to follow its communications and stay in-the-know for the full program next May. Festival Passports and Weekend Passes are already on sale at special rates, including discounts for students and groups. Every purchase supports EarthPercent, a charity founded by Brian Eno to channel the impact of the music industry on the planet.
MUTEK Forum 2025: three days of innovation and digital creation
Running in synergy with the festival, the 11th edition of MUTEK Forum— a platform and marketplace for bold ideas in digital creation—returns from Wednesday, August 20, to Sunday, August 22, 2025, bringing together artists, institutions, researchers, technology professionals, digital experts, and curators.
