Nik Colk VoidUK

A seasoned electronic musician and artist with a vast reputation in experimental shapeshifting and collaboration, Nik Colk Void’s musical expressions stem from the unconventional encounters with her tools, both analogue and digital. An accomplished vocalist and guitarist, she also employs modular systems, cut-up sampling and extended techniques to craft a whole new language inspired by techno, club, experimental and noise. The UK-based musician has produced eight acclaimed studio albums through associated acts Factory Floor (with Gabriel Gurnsey and Dominic Butler), Carter Tutti Void (with Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti) and NPVR (with the late Peter Rehberg), all released on such illustrious labels as Mute, DFA, Blast First, Editions Mego and Industrial.

Her first solo album Bucked Up Space debuted to critical acclaim earlier this year, getting a nod and support from Mary Anne Hobbs and BBC 6 Music, as well as drawing glowing praise from the likes of Pitchfork, The Observer, Resident Advisor and Clash. Whether solo or as a group, Void has performed at a plethora of world-renowned events and clubs and has held a number of art residencies and exhibitions across Europe; her eye-popping curriculum vitae undoubtedly elicits the respect (or envy) of her peers.

In order the celebrate the release of her debut solo album Bucked Up Space, combining Nik Colk Void’s vast scenic experience with her love of improvisation, the artist will make her debut on MUTEK Montréal’s stage at the Société des arts technologiques, for the opening night of the Play series.
