A Club SAT event that invites you to explore new sonic spaces during an exceptional evening led by one of the masters of German experimental music, Jan Jelinek, alongside the Brussels-based talent, Roméo Poirier.
Jan Jelinek
Jelinek’s works delve into the transformation of sounds, translating source materials from popular music into abstract, minimal textures. Steering clear of traditional instruments, he builds collages from tiny sound fragments sourced from a wide array of recording devices: tape recorders, digital samplers, media players, and more. The recordings are turned into repetitive loops that strip the original down to its essence, making the source material largely indecipherable. In his current live performances, Jan Jelinek weaves diverse sound elements to create what he describes as ecstatic sound collages.
Roméo Poirier
Roméo Poirier works within electronic music, focusing on heavy sample processing and digital collages. He has released albums with the London label Kit Records (Plage Arrière), Manchester’s Sferic (Hotel Nota), and Jan Jelinek’s label, Faitiche (Living Room), transforming layers from different eras into a fluid pulse that feels both nostalgic and intriguingly ahistorical. On his first tour in the United States and Canada, he will premiere new samples and materials from his explorations within the secretive field of historical studio engineering.
