Experience Imperialism is an audio/visual performance series that exhibits new works from Montreal-based artists, Le désert mauve, Stephanie Castonguay and T. Gowdy. The project, initiated by T. Gowdy in 2020, explores the world’s current landscape of socio-economic organization, whereby experience is extracted, analyzed and rendered as an industrial-scale commodity. Other than acknowledging the theme and a loose time frame, the artists agreed on no other clear directives. The result being three distinct works that are unified in their use of analog video surveillance technology, a feeling of transformation and a sense of bewilderment.
