The 10th edition of MUTEK.JP brings together 30+ artists from around the world in Shibuya, Tokyo’s vibrant hub of creativity, nightlife, and innovation.
Across four days of performances and professional exchanges, we celebrate a decade of exploration, experimentation, and community building in Japan’s electronic music and digital art scene.
This year’s program highlights Japanese artists such as Open Reel Ensemble – a standout of Montréal 2023 – and Daito Manabe – a highlight of Montréal 2024 – alongside international names including Nicola Cruz, MONOCOLOR, Noémi Büchi, and PAURRO.

On this occasion, MUTEK Montréal is proud to showcase six Québec projects, supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ):
Guillaume Coutu Dumont and Line Katcho present a new iteration of Les Empires, blending retro-futuristic synths, hypnotic rhythms, and mythological themes. After its world premiere at MUTEK Montréal 2025, this performance unfolds as a cinematic journey through sound and image.

Marie Davidson’s live performance will showcase her distinctive mix of spoken poetry and pulsating rhythms, promising an immersive sonic journey. Known for their dynamism, her sets span techno, ambient, and synth-pop, infused with emotional depth that reflects her eclectic inspirations.

Martin Messier’s 1 drop 1000 years is an immersive audiovisual performance that depicts the crucial yet fragile role of the thermohaline circulation. Using advanced technologies, Messier captures the essence of global ocean currents, highlighting their precarious balance and the urgent human impact on climate regulation.

Martyn “M.” Bootyspoon presents a live performance retracing the African American roots of house, techno, juke, footwork, and electro, extending to the raw mutations of UK grime. Performing without a computer, but with samplers, synthesizers, and his own voice, he sculpts a dynamic and physical set that celebrates the dancefloor as a space of connection, resistance, and reinvention.

Jacques Greene and Nosaj Thing present Verses GT — the project, the group, the debut album, the live show, the moving image. An all-encompassing banner for a new collaborative world. The live performance carries this hazy, meditative weight with intention and purpose: an understated confidence that strips things back, slows the pace, and bets on headspace — creating a locked-in feeling that resonates both internally and externally.

An essential duo within the MUTEK universe, Flabbergast — formed by Guillaume Coutu Dumont and Vincent Lemieux — moves fluidly between spontaneous live improvisations and refined compositions. Fusing influences as diverse as electronic music, jazz, and hip-hop, their performance pushes sonic exploration, perfecting a hybrid that transcends genre boundaries.

Additionally, Montréal-based multimedia artists BunBun and Alex Vlair will contribute immersive VJ performances with striking real-time visuals.
Balancing Japanese talent, international acts, and new voices in electronic culture, this 10th edition of MUTEK.JP stands out as a must-attend event to close the year.
The presentation of Québec artists is made possible thanks to the support of the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec.
