Feingold’s latest incarnation acts as an ephemeral counterpoint to his previous jacking techno tinged output. Ex-Terrestrial takes off into downbeat ambient IDM, betraying serene tendencies and setting practically romantic atmospheric conditions.
Prior to dipping his toes into the deep sea of playful acid and snarling techno, Montréal native Feingold first rose to prominence on the local front as part of psychedelic indie rock outfit The Breezes. Since turning fully techno, he's shown a knack for juiced up distortion administered with warmth and grace. Closely affiliated with local initiatives Forbidden Planet and Booma Collective, Feingold joined Apron Records in 2014, releasing a debut EP that mirrored label head FunkinEven’s hybrid penchant for squiggling acid lines and streetwise techno. Feingold has since helped launch Temple Records, while also landing his releases on other labels. He joined Vancouver’s 1080p with a cassette of hazy techno, spaced-out house and reverberant jungle rhythms, and followed that with the freshly released Ex-Terrestrial 12".
Feingold brings his dreamier, summer-weather-reflecting side to the outdoor stage of the Parterre with a DJ set that illustrates his not-of-this-world inclinations.
