Kornelia Binicewicz is a Polish record collector, curator of music compilations, founder of the Ladies on Records brand, DJ, and explorer of female music from 60s, 70s, and 80s. Her passion for female music brought her to Turkey where she started to explore the undiscovered world of the Turkish female music scene. During five years of digging through records and meeting forgotten or unrecognized female singers in Turkey, she also managed to dive into the back catalogues of old Turkish labels. She curated the “Turkish Ladies. Female Singers from Turkey 1973-1988” (Epic Istanbul) compilation and the “Uzelli Psychedelic Anadolu” compilation (Uzelli), both released on vinyl.
Ladies on Records is a multifaceted endeavour focused on the music legacy of women all over the world, presenting female music from the past decades. It is also an anthropological and cultural project focused on the exploration of social, political, and cultural contexts of female activity in the music business and culture. Ladies on Records is a brand created to bring gender balance to the music business.
