Hailey Guzik, a fixture in Montréal's underground scene, is a multidisciplinary artist with a dynamic practice that spans painting, installation, and new media. A resident VJ at Francesco's Discoteca, they are deeply involved with collectives such as Homegrown Harvest, XO Noir, and Boheme Systeme. Guzik’s work reimagines plein-air practices within immersive contexts, using virtual reality, performance, and interactive installations to explore the intersections of perception, memory, and ecological concerns. Their MMU project combines visual programming, lighting design, and VJing to create ephemeral dancefloor installations that map virtual memories onto physical spaces, blending sculptural materials, LEDs, and projection mapping to forge new connections between nature, humans, and technology. Guzik is a recent participant in World Creation Studio's CO-CREATE Virtual Reality Residency and will begin their MFA in Intermedia at Concordia University in Fall 2024.
