From Montréal to Prague: MUTEK at Lunchmeat Festival
Italy, Scotland, and now the Czech Republic—our European tour makes a stop in Prague for the Lunchmeat Festival.
Recognized for its unique approach combining electronic music and digital arts in iconic venues across the city, Lunchmeat Festival has become an essential event for fans of immersive and avant-garde experiences.
On this occasion, MUTEK presents three distinct works that reflect the diversity of Quebec and Canadian artistic practices:
Inferno by Bill Vorn and Louis-Philippe Demers: Inspired by Dante's work, this performance engages the audience in an unusual way by having them wear robotic prostheses that influence the work in real-time. Inferno delves into the depths of the imagination, exploring themes of judgement and the boundaries between humans and machines. Co-produced in 2015 with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, ACREQ, Elektra, the Maison des Arts de Créteil, Arcadi (Paris), and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, this project questions our relationship with technology and the body through a participatory experience.
Second Self by Myriam Bleau & Nien Tzu Weng: This duo explores digital identities and how we present ourselves online. Through gestural interfaces and wearable technology, Second Self questions the multiple facets of our digital identity and their interaction with our physical body. Created during residencies in The Hague and Malmö, this work will be presented at Lunchmeat following its North American premiere at MUTEK Montréal this summer.
RAMZi: The Montreal-based artist offers a unique sonic universe, both playful and intuitive, developed over the course of 12 albums. Her compositions, set in dense and colorful soundscapes, transport the audience to a fictional world where reality and imagination intertwine. Through her performances, RAMZi creates a musical experience that is both disorienting and fascinating, offering a moment of complete disconnection.
This stop in Prague, made possible thanks to the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, is part of our ongoing European tour before heading to Latin America in October for MUTEK editions in Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City.
This year, MUTEK Mexico celebrates a major milestone with its 20th edition, marked by a special collaboration with DEFENDER. This partnership will feature two weeks of cultural and artistic activities, making Mexico City the hub of digital creation from October 7 to 20.
