After celebrating its 15th anniversary last April with more than 7,000 attendees across seven venues, MUTEK Barcelona is evolving. The festival adopts a biennial format, allowing for deeper development of projects, partnerships, and curatorial work. The next full edition of MUTEK Barcelona will take place in 2026.
In the meantime, MUTEK will continue to present a series of events throughout 2025, maintaining its commitment to digital creativity and electronic music. Artists such as Oklou, Rival Consoles, ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, Tukico (Tangerine Dream), Loidis aka Huerco S., Tenashee (DJ Tennis & Ashee), and Ricardo Villalobos will perform in Barcelona and Madrid over the coming months.
This transition reflects MUTEK’s ongoing evolution since its founding in Montréal in 2000, and its arrival in Barcelona in 2009. More than 15 years later, MUTEK Barcelona remains the festival’s only European edition, continuing to shape its identity with a deliberate, long-term approach.
"We have always been a living and changing festival; it is part of our identity. The biennial format will allow us to strengthen our programming, follow artistic projects more closely, and develop new partnerships with greater dedication," explains Alberto Nerone, Director of MUTEK Barcelona. "This change is not a step backwards but an opportunity for growth."
