As part of the MM-M-25 call for projects, dedicated to integrating public participation in the creation of technological artworks within digital arts festivals, we are pleased to present Simon Says, an interactive work by artist Matthew Biederman.
In this interactive audiovisual work, we are invited to play a whole new version of the game Simon Says, using artificial intelligence! This new installation by artist Matthew Biederman playfully explores the dynamics of surveillance and conformity within a society increasingly analyzed by technology.
By following the commands generated by the system, we navigate the tension between individual action and external control. Each pose represents both a moment of creativity and the negation of identity in a digitally mediated environment. The computer vision system used echoes the omnipresence of public surveillance, capturing both physical movements and conformity.
The game encourages us to reflect on our own behaviors in the face of a constantly vigilant eye. The work comments on the human tendency to conform, often thoughtlessly, to authoritative signals.
