MOIS MULTI – MUTEK XXV : Call for projects - artists from Quebec

MUTEK Mois Multi Credits Bruno Aiello Destombes

In an era where technologies are democratized, how can we integrate public participation in the creation of technological artworks through digital arts festivals?
Is it possible to integrate public participation, and how does this fit into the organization of a festival? How can we create, through technology, more equitable, diverse, and inclusive forms of public participation?

The MM-M-25 project offers artists or artist collectives the opportunity to explore these questions and develop digital art projects that seek to address them. Over a 12-month period, including residencies and technical and mentoring support tailored to the project's needs and the distinct resources of each festival, artists can engage with communities, conduct technological research, and ultimately produce artworks resulting from this process. This approach aims to create more equitable, diverse, and inclusive forms of public participation through technology-enabled artistic practices.

Two pivotal moments will punctuate this process:

  • Presentation of the project's laboratory phase at the Mois Multi 2025 festival
  • World premiere screening of the final project during MUTEK 2025. (The artist will also be invited to attend the 2024 edition).

With the MM-M-25 project, we are interested in seeing the development, within our structures, of a critical and creative project that, through its engagement with local communities, will open a dialogue among various individuals involved in digital and technological arts festivals in Quebec and beyond. The project can take the form of an audiovisual performance, an installation, an XR work, web art, or any other format or medium commonly understood in digital arts.

The artist or collective will benefit from:

  • Online residency with both Mois Multi/MUTEK teams and support from experts/mentors for the technological development of the project (selected based on project needs).
  • A 15-day residency at Les Productions Recto-Verso, including technical support, accommodation, transportation, per diem.
  • Cultural mediation support for the public interaction phase as needed.
  • General logistical support for the organization of the creation phases.
  • Fee and production budget.
  • Performance fees.
