Phèdre is the electronic duo of Daniel Lee and April Aliermo, based in Tkaronto/Toronto. Emerging from experimental pop, their sound has evolved into fast-paced, bass-driven sets blending sequencers, samplers and synths into kinetic, genre-bending performances. Drawing from club, jungle, breakbeat and techno, their live shows pulse with a playful sense of rhythm and disruption.
Daniel Lee is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter based in Tkaronto/Toronto. Known for his shape-shifting sound across projects like Lee Paradise and Phèdre, his work blends raw, propulsive grooves with off-kilter textures and a sharp melodic instinct. As Lee Paradise, he channels post-punk energy into experimental electronics, most recently on The Fink (Telephone Explosion, 2020). Whether sculpting bass-heavy club sets with Phèdre or diving into gritty solo material, Lee's music thrives in tension—between rhythm and rupture, control and chaos.
April Aliermo is a Filipina-Canadian musician, sound artist, and performer based in Tkaronto/Toronto. Over the past decade, she has toured extensively with bands Hooded Fang and Phèdre, playing bass, synths, and samplers across North America, Europe, and Asia. Since 2018, her solo sound art practice has explored immersive, site-specific works and hidden electromagnetic frequencies, developed in part through mentorship with pioneering artist Christina Kubisch. Aliermo’s work often confronts socio-political systems through sonic exploration—merging movement, resistance, and deep listening.
